On the last day of August 2024 I rode the Flume Trail near Incline Village. Marley and my wife came along. We set out around half past nine, and at 11:25 in the morning we had stopped in the pines above Lake Tahoe.

The hammock went up between two trees on a slope of pine needles and dry ground. Big granite boulders sat in the low green brush, and through the trunks you could see the lake, deep blue, with mountains on the far side. The sky was clear apart from a few thin clouds.

My wife was in the hammock. I was the one taking the picture.

The ride came to about eight miles, with only a couple hundred feet of climbing and about an hour of it spent moving. We were out a bit over three hours in all.
