A friend recently introduced me to a new a Adobe application called Adobe Edge Animate.

The best way I can explain what Adobe Edge Animate is exactly is if you think Adobe Flash but without the Flash player and instead they use JavaScript. It’s very impressive and I found it very easy to get up and running with. I spent a couple hours getting familiar with it and then tried to build out a scene I have been thinking about for a while involving a beach.

Here is a simple demo that has a number of looping elements and a button that will change the scene. Only the header section was built using Adobe Edge Animate.

If you view the source you can see that everything is being done using XHTML, CSS and JavaScript.

I will definitely be using it again and just love the direction that Adobe has been able to take this project. Watch this space.

Easy to use

Use an intuitive interface that’s based on WebKit, so your projects have fidelity across modern browsers. Design engaging HTML content with an assortment of styling options and integration with font services like Typekit and Edge Web Fonts.
