I have seen these photos before but never knew the story behind them or who took them until now. Thanks to an article written in Wired Magazine by Alex Washburn I now know the full story and location.
I remember seeing these and getting butterflies in my stomach as I remembered being back on Oahu, playing in the surf myself.
The photos in The Underwater Project are not only beautiful but also unique in the way they convey the power of the ocean. The people Tipple photographs are often suspended in awkward positions as they fight, fruitlessly, to maintain control.
